Proper puppy training is vital if you want to have the best possible relationship with your dog. Training your dog can be hard, but the more you learn about it the better off you will be. Increase your training knowledge with the following puppy training tips.

Establish a calm environment when you enter a room that your dog is in. It is great to have playtime with your pet, but your dog should stay calm when you come into the room. Try not to acknowledge your pet when you set foot into rooms, and this can imbue calm environments most of the time, since your dog will wait for you to start play time.

Dogs only have the ability to focus on one thing at a time. If you do it enough times, your dog will wait for your signals instead of focusing on other things.

Don’t expect your dog to learn a command the first time you say it. You might have to repeat the same exercise up to fifty times before your dog remembers it. Continue repeating the same command with patience, and eventually your dog will learn it.

When you start dog training, come up with a verbal cue that will tell your pet they’ve followed your command. “yes” is a great bridge word between the dogs positive accomplishment and the reward they receive.

You can show your dog how to do tricks, get some treats. The first step is to get the dog to lay down. Now, with a treat in your palm, move your hand from one side of the dog’s face to the other. He should follow the treat with his nose, causing him to roll his whole body over. Whenever you dog does roll over, actually say the words, “roll over.” Continue to do this until your dog actually rolls over whenever you say the words without using the treat. Make sure you are patient because this is likely to take several attempts. However, your dog will eventually learn this command.

It is imperative that you have a pet that will obey your commands. Everything you just read is appropriate for use in training your dog to be a better and more obedient member of the family. It takes a lot of time, and it is a practice in patience to get your dog to listen. An obedient dog doesn’t happen overnight; it requires repetition, time, and patience. If you want continued success, keep learning everything you can on training.
