Cat provide many hours of joy for owners. Having said that, if you are a cat owner, understand that it requires some work. There are various responsibilities that cat owners must know. This article list some tips and responsibilities that a good cat owner should know. Become aware of what the commitment entails, then approach it wisely.

If you want a cat to feel like it’s more comfortable, a heated tile may be able to help. Use a terra cotta tile to help relieve your cat’s aches and pains; put it in the oven on low heat – 200 degrees or so – for 15 minutes. Put it inside an old towel, then place it beneath the cat’s bed. When the tile cools down, change it out for a fresh, warm one.

Don’t allow your cat become bored. Cats should have a lot of exercise and playtime. Too frequently this need is overlooked by owners. A lack of stimulation can lead to psychological or medical problems for your cat, including depression, compulsive disorders, and chronic misbehavior. Give them lots of space for exercise and plenty of toys they can play with. If they stay indoors make sure they have a scratching post for climbing.

Most cats spend a large amount of time on grooming themselves. Your cat’s long hair can cause hair balls. To help your cat out with this problem, try buying him special food. Some cat food out there has a special formula in it that reduces hairballs. This benefits your pet and you.

When traveling on the road with your cat, understand that they are sensitive to sounds. They don’t want to hear you singing at the top of your lungs. To ensure your cat’s trip is pleasant, turn off the music or keep the volume low.

Cover the area around your cat’s bowl with a cloth. Sometimes cats prefer to remove food from their bowls and eat it from the floor. This can result in you having to clean up food outside its bowl if you don’t use a tablecloth. Simply place a cloth placemat that will grab at the food under their plate and then shaken out over the trash. You can put a vinyl one underneath that can be picked up wiped down easily if you prefer.

Try to figure out why your cat meows. As you develop a relationship with your cat over time, it will become easier to determine why she is meowing. Possibilities include that she is hungry or wants to be let outside. By taking note of your cat’s cues, you’ll understand it more.

Purchase high quality food for your cat. Look over the ingredients in the food, and be sure there is some kind of a protein source in the food. Try omitting non-protein based foods such as corn from your regular diet. Cats are carnivores, and they need a good amount of protein in their diet.

As you can now see, cats can bring you much joy. However, you must properly care for your cat in order for both of you to be happy. Take heed of the advice you’ve just been given if you’re going to bring a kitty home.
