The Earlier You Start The Training Of Your Puppy The Better

Make sure you walk your dog and do not let your dog walk you! The article below can help you train your dog, so that both of you have a great life together.

Give your puppy time to be okay with a crate by taking the training one small step at a time. First, put them inside with the door still open. When they get used to that, close the gate and give them a treat they like. Keep them in the crate for a small duration and slowly increase that duration. If the dog shows signs of distress, you may be progressing too quickly.

Only reward your dog if they are calm. Reward them only when your dog is calm after it performs a trick. Although you are certainly excited about your dog’s accomplishment, showcasing lots of excitement on your end can cause your dog to become too excited, which causes you to lose control. Stay calm, have them be calm, and reward them for appropriate behavior.

Your dog needs to be active frequently. Dogs can get bored quite easily. A bored dog will try and find something interesting to do, and training is not usually interesting. A happy and well-exercised dog is an easily trained dog. You and your dog can run or walk together daily.

Dogs can concentrate on one thing intensely and you will have to learn to break his attention. Eventually, you will be able to ensure that your dog is more focused on you and your commands than other distractions.

Consistency is key in crate training a puppy. Give the puppy consistent opportunities to relieve himself every time you let him out. The dog will grow his bladder so he can hold it for longer and longer this way.

Before you begin training your dog, you need to establish yourself as the alpha. It is important for your dog to know that you are the one who is in control, so that he respects and obeys you. Do not let your dog walk ahead of you when you go on walks.

Pick a recognizable phrase to verbalize to your puppy during house training. When you are outside with the puppy, say the chosen phrase to keep him focused on the task he is to accomplish.

Let your dog get a minimum of an hour of exercise every day, and do this in addition to standard breaks outside for potty and training. By allowing your dog ample play time, he will be more willing to pay attention during training time. Your dog will be happier and more responsive when he gets the exercise he needs.

When you are in the initial stages of training your puppy, teach him his name first to help create a bond. Use his name frequently, and train him to come to you when called. Your dog should learn these items before any others as they’re the most important. It’s important to spend a lot of time playing with your puppy, this will help your puppy get to know you and learn to trust you. If the puppy trusts you, he will be easier to train later.

When your dog seems untrainable, you may be pulling your hair out. Hopefully you now feel more confident about training your dog since reading this article.
