Many people worry that taking a dominant role in training their dog will affect their friendly and loving relationship. In this article, you will find great puppy training advice that will benefit you greatly. Knowledge is the key, and a good education on puppy training is the perfect place to start.

Good behavior means rewards! If you are able to command your dog to do something the right way, then it is good to calmly reward your dog. You may feel great about it, but you don’t want to make the pup feel over-excited. Maintain a calm atmosphere and provide an appropriate reward.

Dogs tend to concentrate on one thing to the exclusion of everything else unless that concentration is interrupted. With enough repetition, your dog will focus on other things less and less, opting to wait for signals from you.

You should not tie up multiple dogs where they can reach each other, no matter how friendly they are. The two chains could get tangled up. This could panic you dogs as he tries to get free and he could potentially hurt himself. If two dogs’ chains become entangled, it is possible that one or both dogs could experience difficulty breathing or even strangulation.

Always have a treat for rewarding your dog. They have to know that doing the right thing brings a happy ending. Doing so makes your dog learn what he can and can’t do.

“Quiet” is a command you will probably want to teach your dog. Every time he barks, tell them the silent order and then treat him. Once your dog has stopped barking, you can award it with a treat. When you repeat this action multiple times, your dog will eventually learn that the order means to be quiet.

Socialization with other people and pets is an important part of your dog’s training. Your dog has to learn how to behave around other animals and people. The best way to develop good behavior in these situations is to put your dog in the environment as much as possible. Devoting time to socialization early in life will enhance your pet’s comfort in unfamiliar situations.

All of the things you teach your dog are going to be a part of their behavior and personality. This is important to know, because you might undo certain desired behaviors inadvertently by teasing your dog or engaging in horseplay. Be sure that every action you take supports the behaviors you seek.

If you want to take your dog on a trip, take all necessary items. Items like food and water bowls, bathroom bags and paper towels are important in having a very relaxing ride. There is no need to bring along the bag of dog food; you can buy some when you reach your destination.

One very good way to reinforce a desired behavior in a pet is by providing a treat after the behavior is successfully performed. Over time, you can adjust your approach to reward the behaviors with a treat only three-fourths of the time. This frequency can be decreased as you progress through training sessions.

Successful puppy training starts with acquiring great knowledge. By using the tips and advice from this article, you and your dog will be able to understand each other’s needs. A little advice goes a long way!
