A pet is a treasured member of your family, so it’s natural that you would be cautious about choosing the best technique for training him. If you are interested in seeking out the best and brightest ways to train your dog, you’ll love the ideas in this article. Knowledge is the key, and a good education on training your dog is the perfect place to start.

Try to view things from your dog’s perspective. As advanced creatures, we humans have problems accepting when our dogs aren’t picking up new skills as fast as we’d like. You should never give up on them, try looking at it from your dog’s vantage point. Try to see the world through their eyes.

Keep your dog well exercised and active. Dogs can become bored easily. Dogs that are bored are not easy to train. When your dog is exercised and is happy, training will be easier. You and your dog can run or walk together daily.

Teething is painful, and providing chew toys helps alleviate the pain. Keep items that are potentially more painful out of reach. Offer your puppy a variety of acceptable items to chew on. Puppies sometimes chew objects while going through their teething phase. A wet cloth that has been frozen is perfect for them during this time.

Repetition is what causes a dog to learn. It is not uncommon for it to take between 25 to 50 repetitions of the same command for your dog to learn it. Keep trying the same commands until your dog remembers it for good.

The first rule to remember when you begin to house train your puppy is that what you feed them will eventually come out the other end. To have your dog on a consistent bathroom schedule, have him or her eating quality food about two or three times every day, at the exact same time. By using a feeding schedule, you will now lessen the chances of an accident.

When training your dog, make it fun for the both of you. When you play with your dog, it strengthens the bond between you and them, thus encouraging the pet to stay positive during training. Although puppy training can be fun, you don’t really want to spend all your time in training mode.

Dog training means consistency. Begin each command by using his name. This will get his attention, and then you can tell him what to do. Dogs tend to respond by name right away and they know that you want their attention.

An effective way to train your dog is to use different voice tones for different purposes. Use a clearly defined tone for different commands, encouragement or directives. This makes it easier for the dog to link your expectations with different behaviors. Use a sharp and firm tone for commands and a loud tone to correct his behaviors, saving the natural tone for praises.

Make sure you’re aware of any other dogs in the area when walking your dog. It’s true that certain breeds or animals are more aggressive than others, and you must also take into account that not all pet owners take responsibility for their dogs. If you see a dog acting aggressively or fearfully, avoid that dog.

Just by reading this article, you have taken the initial step in training your dog and becoming a responsible dog owner. If you apply the ideas presented within this article, then you are going to have a much easier time with training your dog. Simple advice will take you far.
