Keep Your Cat’s Best Interests In Mind By Utilizing These Tips

Felines are a lot of fun, so much fun that you can really lose track of the day playing with them. Sometimes you may have to introduce some new things to your cat to keep it occupied. Fun with a cat does not always involve the expenditure of money. Follow along and you should have no problem with things.

Groom your cat. A cat’s fur must be brushed or combed on a regular basis. If you brush cats on a regular basis, it will keep their coats clean and attractive. It will also cut down on shedding and hairballs. Regularly grooming your cat will help keep it and your home looking great.

Cats love to get into tight, small spaces. If your cat is such a curious one, wearing a collar is a safety risk, as your feline might get stuck because of it while exploring. A collar that is a breakaway model will detach itself if it gets pulled on. It can really be a life saver for your cat.

A heated tile can be positioned beneath the bed of a mature cat. Allow a terra cotta tile to heat in an oven for 15 minutes at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Place it in an older towel and place it underneath of the feline’s bed. Replace it every three hours or so.

Spay your female cat. Even if she spends her time indoors, it is possible for her to escape while in heat, causing an unwanted pregnancy. Having your cat spayed helps to control the pet population and will save you time and trouble.

The claws of a cat can really destroy parts of your house and furniture. If your cat is ripping up and shredding your home, invest in a kitty tower or scratching post. Place this device into an area that your cat frequents, and attempt to get your cat to scratch it rather than the furniture. It might take a little while, but eventually it should stop the problem.

Don’t let your cat get frequently bored. It is necessary for them to play and get exercise. Too many cat owners forget this simple fact. Bored cats can suffer from depression, extreme compulsive disorders, and other harmful issues that can negatively impact their overall health and well-being. Give them toys and things to do. If your cat is an indoor cat, a cat tower or scratching post makes an ideal source of fun and exercise.

Speak to others about your cat problems. It is possible to work out the problem yourself, but help from others can be invaluable. Your local veterinarian can be a valuable source of information, but there is also help available online by joining user forums geared toward cat owners.

Never try to teach a cat how to work a litter box. This is not something that needs to be taught. In fact, it comes naturally for them. You may have heard that rubbing your cat;s paws in litter will help them learn, but that may have a traumatizing effect.

It is good to have a variety of games and activities to play with your cat. Not every cat is the same, so that means you may have to pick and choose some of the tips you read to try on your cat. Just keep them happy and they’ll stay healthy, too.
