How To Deal With Your Dog

Properly training your dog can provide you and your furry companion a better relationship. Give the tips that follow a try. A few of these ideas may be precisely what you needed to build a lasting friendship with your pet.

If you in the crate training phase of your training program, you can use a few techniques to speed it up. If your puppy doesn’t like being in his crate, put a dog treat or chew bone in it and close the door to keep him out. Temptation wins with this exercise; your dog will be eager to enter the crate when a treat is waiting for him. After they enter the crate, be sure to give them love and attention to let them know they did something to please you.

Dogs tend to concentrate on one thing to the exclusion of everything else unless that concentration is interrupted. With enough training, you will have your dog focusing solely on your signals.

To ensure success, you must ensure that the crate you are using is appropriate for the size and breed of your pet. Don’t forget that puppies get bigger. You want a crate that will suit your dog right through to adulthood. At full size your dog should be able to move around without feeling too constricted.

One command that should be taught early to a puppy is “leave it.” This teaches them to drop something and step way from it. It ensures they don’t eat food they shouldn’t, chew on items not intended to be chewed on or even pick up dangerous or poisonous items in their mouth.

Have a blast during each training session with your dog. Playing with your dog helps build a stronger bond between dog and human, which encourages the dog to respond positively during training. Although puppy training can be fun, you don’t really want to spend all your time in training mode.

Try to get your dog’s attention when you are training him or her. Begin each command by using his name. Give a simple command after beginning with the dog’s name. Dogs are more likely to respond immediately whenever their name is called because they are aware that you want their attention.

If you want to make sure your dog will behave throughout life, it’s important that you always train them. Your dog isn’t completely trained once he stops being a puppy. Your dog will continue to be obedient if you use reinforcements. Continuing discipline with them will reduce the chances of bad behavior appearing.

You have to train your dog not to bark when you don’t want them to. When your dog barks, show them a treat and repeat the order, for instance, ‘be quiet’ until it stops barking. At this time, give the treat to your dog. Repetition will ensure the dogs learns that quiet is a good thing.

It doesn’t matter what your dog’s age is. The information here can still make a difference. Remember to remain patient as you apply this advice. Properly training your dog will make the both of you happy.
