There are many excellent benefits to training your pet. A well behaved dog will lead to a happier life. The information in this article can aid you in understanding the advantages of training a dog and how you can enjoy puppy training sessions that are positive experiences. You will find this to be an enjoyable process for both of you.

Your dog should know when calm time is to be had. Playtime with them is great, however, they must learn to be calm when you’re entering a room. Don’t acknowledge your dog when you enter the room. By doing this, you will be able to create a controlled environment in which you determine when and how play time begins.

You should pick a phrase to say to your puppy while he is being house trained. Whenever you bring him outside, repeat your chosen phrase in a firm but gentle tone to encourage him to undertake the action and associate the act with the place.

For a dog to become house trained you should always have them on the same feeding schedule everyday, so their elimination time is always the same. Before the dog goes to the bathroom on your carpet, you will know when it has to go outside. When a dog has a schedule, they also learn the valuable skill of “holding it” until you take him for his next scheduled trip outside.

Patience is definitely a virtue when training your pet. Patience prevents both of you from becoming frustrated and angry during the training process. It takes time for your dog to learn what is expected from him. Understand that your dog wants your approval and is doing his best to earn it.

Start with the easy stuff. This will cause you to get your dog to learn its first trick quickly, which is rewarding. It will also show your dog what training is all about. This ensures your outcome is positive.

Use primary reinforcement when training your dog. You need to give your dog a treat if they are good. You can use dog treats or a bunch of love to reward your pet. This helps them to make positive associations with the desired behaviors.

Teach your dog that no response is required when you say ‘no’. Find some positive ways to enforce training when you train your dog. If you just say “no”, your dog might not understand what is acceptable. Each dog is unique and has unique requirements. Training should be geared towards their needs and personality.

As mentioned earlier, there are many benefits associated with dog training. Applying the guidance in this piece can actually make dog training fun. The outcome will be positive for both you and your dog.
