There are different tricks you can try when you are crate training your dog. If they shy away from the crate, try placing a chew bone and shutting its gate when they are not inside. They will want to get to the bone, which means going into the crate. Open the door, and praise them when they go inside.

Your dog needs to learn good feeding habits, and this is best accomplished with a clear routine. Feed your dog twice a day and only leave his food dish out for fifteen minutes. This will help your dog learn his feeding schedule. Shortly, the dog will start finishing their food well before you plan to take the dish away.

When your dog is a room make sure you are calm when you come in. Play time is beneficial to your dog, however, you need to teach your dog to be calm as you enter any room. Do not acknowledge the animal when you enter and by doing so, you create a controlled atmosphere in which you decide how and when play time begins.

Make sure your teething puppy has a bunch of chew toys readily available to him, and keep other things he likes to chew on away from him. Immediately replace it with one of his designated chew toys. Chew toys are essential for puppies who are experiencing pain from teething. A great alternative is a frozen wash cloth.
